One Call That’s All…Not at Hirsch
At Hirsch we believe that ongoing communication between the staff and parents is essential for the success of our students. A parent/teacher conference is scheduled in September to discuss how each student is “settling in” to school routines. This time is also used to set goals for the year. Two additional “team” conference dates are scheduled during the academic year with parents, teachers and all therapists who work with a student.
Our Clinical Coordinator and Occupational Therapist provide ongoing email and phone support for parents to address issues that are causing difficulty for their child outside of school. When indicated, additional meetings are welcomed. Also, our Clinical Coordinator and other staff members provide a monthly Parent Support Meeting on various topics. At these meetings, time is allotted for questions and discussion.
We also pass along information about conferences, seminars and speakers who may offer information to support parents and families.
“Thank you for the best parent-teacher conference we’ve ever had. What a difference to spend the time talking about progress, successes and future goals rather than how to fix our child.” Hirsch Parent
