A Typical Day at Hirsch
At The Hirsch Academy, helping our students manage transition times is foremost. A good start in the morning can often set the tone for the remainder of the school day. We are happy to see our kids each day and let them know this as they arrive.
After organizing their things and entering the classroom, often each class gathers as a group to make personal connections with teachers and classmates. This time together at the start of the day is the underpinning for successful social-emotional experiences throughout the day. This time could also include movement to assist with regulation and physical organization.
Academics in each classroom are ongoing. We take great care in planning an individualized curriculum for each of our students. Students are pulled out of the classroom on a scheduled weekly basis for various therapies (speech therapy, floortime therapy and occupational therapy) depending on individual need. They may also receive one on one academic support when appropriate.
Our students spend time outside each day and additional organized movement is laced throughout the academic day. Students also participate in swimming one day a week and each Friday they enjoy outdoor hiking and team building activities.
