When was The Hirsch Academy founded?  
The Hirsch Academy is a non-profit school for children with learning differences that was founded in 2005.

What age student does Hirsch serve?  
We are accredited through the Georgia Accrediting Commission to instruct students aged 5-13 years.

Does the Hirsch Academy have grade levels?  
We serve students who in a traditional school setting would fall between Kindergarten and 7th grade.  Hirsch has four multi-age class rooms.  Students progress to the next level/class based on mastery of developmental levels and academic readiness.

What are some of the issues/diagnosis that Hirsch kids have?  
ADHD, NVLD, Sensory Processing Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome, Regulatory Disorders and Learning Disorders.

What is the student/teacher ratio at Hirsch?  
Each classroom has a full-time Lead Teacher and a full-time Support Teacher for up to 7 students.

What is the annual tuition?  
The 2012-13 academic year tuition is $28,500.00.  This tuition fee covers academics, Floortime Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy (if appropriate) and our Outdoor Recreation Program.

Does the Hirsch Academy offer scholarships?  
Hirsch has a limited amount of scholarship money available which new and returning families can apply for each January.  Some students may also be eligible for the SB10 Scholarship through the Georgia Department of Education.

What are the school hours?  
Monday through Thursday, school begins at 9:00 am and students are dismissed at 3:00 pm.  On Fridays, students participate in our outdoor program from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Does Hirsch have an after school or summer program?  
Currently we do not offer an after school or summer camp program.

Does Hirsch provide transportation?  
Families are responsible for transporting students to and from school.  Many of our families carpool with each other.

Does Hirsch provide lunch and snack?  
Students bring lunches and snacks from home.

Where do kids go when they leave Hirsch?  
Some kids come to Hirsch for a short time and then transition to other programs. Other students will stay longer and then transition into another special needs program at age 13.  We help families make these decisions based on our time and experience with their child.
